Statues of John Roebling, his son Washington and Washington's wife Emily near Brooklyn Bridge. John Augustus Roebling designed Brooklyn Bridge bridge, but died in 1869 from an injury. His oldest son, Washington A. Roebling, completed the bridge in 1883 with help from his wife, Emily Warren Roebling.
The statues of the Roeblings should be more prominently displayed. Their achievement in designing and constructing the Brooklyn Bridge was phenomenal. It was one of the greatest engineering feats of the 19th Century. More Americans should know about them, but very little history is being taught in the schools of today.
