The James Gordon Bennett monument (“Bellringers”)by French sculptor Jean-Antonin Carles, Herald Square. Roman goddess of wisdom Minerva, the sponsor of arts and trade is in the center. The bell ringer’s below her are Gog and Magog. The clock was located on the Herald Building that once stood directly to the north of the square on West 35th Street in 1894.
