Statue of Peter Cooper, a native New Yorker, philanthropist, industrialist, and inventor  by sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens near Astor Palce. Cooper inventions include the first trans-Atlantic telegraph cable and  America’s first functioning steam engine.
